Adult Autism & ADHD Comprehensive Diagnostic Assessment

Two Minds Clinical Practice now offers comprehensive psychological assessments for adults (18+), including formal diagnosis of Autism and Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).

Whether you're seeking greater clarity about your experiences, considering a formal diagnosis, or looking to better understand yourself, we’re here to support you with compassion, expertise, and evidence-based evaluation tools.

Why Consider an Assessment?

Neurodiversity is the idea that differences in how people think, process information, and experience the world are a natural and valuable part of human variation. Autism and ADHD are not deficits or disorders in the traditional sense—they are part of the broader spectrum of cognitive diversity. This perspective emphasises acceptance, strength-based understanding, and support that honors individual differences.

Many adults live for years—sometimes decades—without knowing they are neurodivergent. Seeking an assessment can be a transformative step for those who:

  • Have always felt "different" or misunderstood

  • Struggle with attention, focus, or emotional regulation

  • Experience social difficulties, sensory sensitivities, or communication challenges

  • Have been misdiagnosed or undiagnosed during childhood

  • Are looking for validation, self-understanding, or access to accommodations

A formal assessment provides:

  • Clarity about your cognitive and emotional patterns

  • Language to describe your experiences to others

  • Tools and strategies to improve daily functioning

  • A foundation for self-acceptance and empowerment

Assessment Process

  1. Intake process

When your assessment appointment has been confirmed and booked, you will be sent an intake form and several questionnaires to complete.

The forms provided can be time consuming, it is recommended that you plan time to complete these. Please send everything back to us at least 1-2 weeks before your initial assessment session.

  1. Initial assessment session

We will start with having an initial 50-minute appointment. This will be a chance to start to get to know you. We will have a conversation about what has brought you along for this assessment, and we will gather some background information to help shape our assessment.

Following this appointment, you may be given some more assessment measures to complete. We ask that you return these to us as soon as possible.

  1. Diagnostic session

The diagnostic session can take up to 3 hours and involves working through some structured assessment measures. The purpose of this session is to gather further information and collaboratively explore whether your traits meet the formal diagnostic criteria for Autism and/or ADHD.

  1. Scoring & report preparation

Following your diagnostic session, we will take some time to review all the information we have, including test scores and information obtained during our sessions, to reach a formal diagnostic conclusion. We will write a report over the next 4-6 weeks.

  1. Feedback session

We will meet for a 50-minute feedback session approximately 4-6 weeks after your diagnostic assessment. During this session, we will provide you with your report and review all the results with you. This will be an opportunity for you to ask any questions about your test results and discuss ongoing recommendations.

NDIS Funding: Self-managed or plan-managed NDIS clients may have funding for psychological assessment. It is recommended that you check with your support coordinator or plan manager.

Medicare Rebates: In Australia, Medicare rebates are available for Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) assessments for individuals under 25 with a referral from a Paediatrician or Psychiatrist. Medicare does not currently provide rebates for formal diagnostic assessments of Autism or ADHD for adults aged 25 and over.

Additional Information

  • Assessments are available either face-to-face or via telehealth (video-link)

  • Manon provides assessment for both Autism and ADHD together as this is considered best practice due to high co-occurrence. This is included in the single fee—there is no extra charge for dual assessment.

  • Other co-occuring mental health concerns may also be assessed and diagnosed by Manon within the assessment if indicated. This will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

  • Manon cannot prescribe medication for the management of ADHD. It is recommended that individuals seeking medication consult with a psychiatrist.

  • Whilst Manon's reports may be used for NDIS, they may not be sufficient to apply for funding alone. The NDIA considers additional factors, including functional capacity. If your primary goal is NDIS access, another service may be more suitable.
